‘DD JOHNSTON, one of this country s most principled socialist novelists, is also one of the most versatile and talented around.’ – The Morning Star.

Edinburgh-born D.D. Johnston’s first novel, Peace, Love & Petrol Bombs, a 2011 book of the year in the Sunday Herald, has been recorded as an audio book and translated into Spanish. His third is the Manchest-set crime story  The Secret Baby Room.

He is a senior lecturer in creative writing at the University of Gloucester, and leads the Barbican Academy.

Mike DD Johnston leads the Barbican Academy. With over ten years’ experience as a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Gloucestershire, he has helped many authors to achieve their goals. As a mentor, his recent work includes helping Philip Bowne to develop his debut novel, Cows Can’t Jump, which the Daily Express has described as “a triumph”. He’s passionate about understanding a writer’s process and helping them to realise their vision, and he thinks that the journey as well as the destination should be fun.
